Let’s talk…

… about food trucks! I’m about as huge a fan as anyone, when it comes to portable cuisine. Having an opportunity to actually contribute to one is beyond any of our wildest dreams. Chef Warren Almeda has graciously tapped TINbox to handle all of the creative for his newest venture in cooking, The Discussion Truck: a Filipino-American approach to classic American fare. With Chef Almeda’s unique twists to American dishes, this truck will certainly get the most discerning of palettes into the discussion. Check out now, and let’s talk about it…

We will always remember…

It was probably one of the most unbelievable events in my life. I was in NYC, on 25th and broadway. I saw the second tower collapse from the fire escape. I walked down broadway to the west side highway. I walked, not on the sidewalk, but down the middle of the busiest street in america, if not the world. There wasn’t a single car on the road. I took a ferry back to jersey and looked back at my beloved city, on fire.

I also remember the resolve of New York. Of America. How class wasn’t an issue. Nor race. Nor gender. We were humbled, and in that humility, we were united. Broken down, only to be built up stronger. Prouder. Better.

I will always remember. I will never EVER forget.

Welcome to the family, John Fischer Photography!

One of our newest clients is photographer John Fischer. His beach photography is making a wonderful impact to the Redondo Beach community and has his work on display at local exercise studio, Pure Barre of Redondo Beach (another client!). On behalf of TINbox Solutions, we’d like to welcome John to the family and look forward to many more projects with you!

We’re all a bunch of squares

Credit: it’s gotten such a bad rap, thanks in part to the scores of college kids that signed up for one on campus to get the free shirt, frisbee, candy bar (guilty) and more. In the wrong hands, credit can (and will) cripple a person’s financial future. However, being on the business end, credit can be a powerful tool for leveraging spending power. It is vital for small companies, such as TINbox, to offer a multitude of payment options, credit included. Setting aside my sour grapes to the entire credit community, I have been researching the benefits of portable credit card readers. After speaking with many that are employing them (mostly food trucks… because I like to eat), the overwhelming favorite has been this:

That is the Square Credit Card Reader, by San Francisco based Square. It’s about as straightforward as it gets: buy the reader, sign up link your bank acct, and voila! Instant credit card machine. With software offered through the iPhone app store (free!), a 10 dollar rebate (making the reader free) and a VERY modest transaction fee (2 & change percent), this little powerhouse gives TINbox another bullet to help us survive the onslaught of a crappy economy. Let’s hope it turns out well!

Who thought credit would ever be a GOOD thing?
